What we repair

Dead batteries at the ramp. A bilge pump that won’t run. Nav lights out with a trip planned for Saturday. Electrical faults have a way of showing up right when you want the boat working — and we fix them properly, not with another twist-and-tape join that fails next season.

Sunshine Coast Marine Electrical Doctor repairs boat electrical systems across the coast from our Coolum Beach base. Marine electricians with over 15 years on everything from tinnies to commercial vessels.

flat banks, failed isolators, alternators not charging

bilge pumps, deck wash, live-bait tanks, winches

nav lights, anchor lights, deck and cabin lighting

dead gauges, melted switches, tired panels

sounders, chartplotters, radios and autopilots playing up

cut out the bad section, repair to marine standard

Repaired to marine standard, not patched

Plenty of boat electrical repairs only delay the next failure — a household connector in a marine environment lasts one wet season. Every repair we do uses tinned marine cable, sealed terminations and proper supports, so the fix outlasts the surrounding wiring instead of becoming next year’s fault.

Honest about repair versus replace

Sometimes a repair is the right call. Sometimes you’re pouring money into a loom that’s past saving and a rewire is the cheaper path over two seasons. We’ll tell you which one you’re looking at before you spend a dollar — and because we’re an authorised Garmin dealer, if a unit is dead we can supply and fit the replacement in the same visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. A draining battery is usually a charging fault, a failing battery or something on board drawing current when it shouldn’t be. We test the whole circuit and fix the cause, not the symptom.

Yes. We work on boats at ramps, marinas, moorings and in driveways across the Sunshine Coast. For bigger jobs we can arrange the boat into the workshop.

Yes. We repair and service gear regardless of who fitted it. If a unit’s dead we’ll tell you straight and quote a replacement — as an authorised Garmin dealer we can supply and fit in one go.

Depends on the boat. If the fault is isolated, a repair is the right spend. If the whole loom is tired we’ll say so and quote a rewire instead, so you’re not paying us twice.

Call with the symptom and we’ll give you a realistic booking time. If the boat’s needed for a date, tell us — we’ll do our best to work around it.
