Lake Bolsena is Europe’s Largest Volcanic Lake: Created by the dormant Vulsini volcano, the lake spans 113 km² and reaches depths of 151 meters. Its formation dates back to ancient eruptions, with the last recorded volcanic activity around 104 BC.

It has pristine Waters: The lake is fed entirely by natural aquifers, rainfall, and runoff. Thanks to modern sewage treatment systems, the waters remain unpolluted, offering ideal conditions for fishing and is a geological wonder. Oval in shape, the lake features a conical bottom and is surrounded by rolling hills and ancient communities. The two islands, Bisentina and Martana, are volcanic in origin, adding to the lake’s unique landscape.

It holds historic significance: Known to the Romans as Lacus Volsinii, the lake has been a witness to centuries of history, from Etruscan civilization to Roman conquest. The famous Via Cassia, a Roman road, still skirts the lake’s shores, connecting visitors to its rich past. It is surrounded by scenic villages, vineyards, and lush landscapes, Lake Bolsena is more than a fishing spot—it’s a place where natural beauty meets ancient history.

The world’s best anglers will face off at this extraordinary volcanic lake—where history, nature, and sport collide.
