Heading South to get out of the rain

This weekend we headed south to get out of the Sunny Coast drizzle. We drove to Tenterfield, Deepwater, Emmaville and finally resting in Glen Innes for the night.

It was lovely to head south through the countryside following the New England Highway. It was nice to see some sheep for a change but the cattle look healthy and fat with plenty of Angus and Hereford visible. Kangaroos were in the paddocks on dusk and the King Parrots and Rosellas were loudly misbehaving in the trees and on the power lines.

We didn’t have to stray too far from the highway to find the beautiful Severn River running crystal clear and our favourite spot at Deepwater River. Rob threw in a line, looking for cod. No luck this time.

We finished up in the beautiful Club Hotel in Glen Innes for dinner. It has the rustic old style beauty of another era. A lot of work has gone into making the experience memorable. Well worth a visit.
