It’s generally recommended that you have your boat’s electrical system serviced every two years or so. However, if you use your boat frequently or for long periods of time, you may need to service it more often. An auto-pilot is a device that steers a vessel on a predetermined course without constant human input. It uses sensors, computers and software to control the boat’s rudder and engines. You can set a course and relax while the auto-pilot does all the work.
A chartplotter uses GPS data to track the vessel’s position and plot a course. It displays an electronic nautical chart on its screen. You can use a chartplotter to plan routes, mark waypoints and track your boat’s progress. They’re often used in conjunction with fish finders, radar and other electronic navigation aids.
